AUGUST

I looked at the calendar. Today is first of August. It's the beginning of hte beginning of something else.
Strawberries, sun tanning and barbecuing have lost their glory. The new summer outfits have lost their newness.

Even though August probably is the best summer month in Stavanger (apart from this July which has been amazing), August is to me a reminder or totally different things.

August is planning the fall
thinking about school

putting 15 days left of a 2 month long holiday into perspective ("I don't even have fifteen days during Christmas, let alone Easter or Winter holiday. It still is the longest holiday on the calendar, even tho it's drawing near the end")

buying new school stuff

buying warmer clothes

think about the coming riding competitions, which ones to see, which ones to compete in, getting started with training horse after summer break (before)

think about the coming school year

think about church and great things happening, getting started with connect group and meetings (now)

realising its only four months till Christmas

think about pajama, hot chocolate, gloves, thicker jacket, red and orange leaves

start knitting scarf

give up scarf two weeks later

starting school

dream about next summer



All these feelings regardless of the thermometer showing 25 degrees and having blue skies and hot sun. How odd!


This summer will be a prolonged one, thank goodness for that! With a roof terrace and warm weather throughout September and parts of October......(did I mention we have a roof terrace?!)
